1. Information the app accesses
Camera and selected photos
With your permission, Crib Calc can access the device camera and photos you select so it can recognize playing cards. Camera frames and selected images are analyzed on your device using platform vision technologies and the app's bundled machine-learning model. They are not uploaded to us, stored in an account, or used for advertising.
Locally stored app information
Crib Calc stores completed hands, calculated scores, hand dates, crib and dealer selections, training results, leaderboard initials, and the free-scan counter locally on your device. This information supports score history, training, the local leaderboard, and purchase access.
Public leaderboard information
If you use the public leaderboard, Crib Calc sends your three-letter arcade name and qualifying Count or Discard score to Apple Game Center or Google Play Games. Discard entries also include the number of completed scenarios so the app can enforce the ten-scenario minimum. The platform provider associates the submission with your Game Center or Google Play Games profile and makes qualifying scores visible to other players.
Purchase information
Apple or Google processes the optional one-time in-app purchase, depending on where you obtained the app. Crib Calc also uses RevenueCat to validate purchase receipts and determine whether unlimited scans are unlocked. RevenueCat may process an anonymous app identifier, purchase and entitlement records, and basic app/device information needed to operate that service. We do not receive or store your payment-card number, store-account password, or billing credentials.
Advertising and consent information
For users without Premium access, Crib Calc uses Google Mobile Ads to provide optional rewarded ads and occasional interstitial ads around scanning. Google's User Messaging Platform manages consent and privacy choices where required. Depending on your choices, device settings, and region, Google may collect or share an IP address used to estimate general location, app interactions such as launches, taps, and video views, diagnostic and performance information, and device or account identifiers such as the Android advertising ID, app set ID, or Apple advertising identifier. Google uses this information for advertising, analytics, measurement, and fraud prevention. Google states that this information is encrypted in transit.
Crib Calc checks the Premium entitlement before initializing advertising. Premium users do not receive ads. Card photos, recognized hands, score history, leaderboard initials, and discard choices are not sent to Google Mobile Ads for ad targeting.
2. Information we do not collect
We do not independently collect account credentials, precise location, contacts, health information, or browsing history through the app. We do not sell personal information. Google Mobile Ads may process the advertising and device information described above for free users, subject to your consent choices and platform settings.
3. How information is used
Information processed by the app is used only to:
- recognize cards and calculate cribbage scores;
- display local hand history and score breakdowns;
- operate Count, Discard Strategy, and local score history;
- display and submit optional public leaderboard scores; and
- manage the three-scan and three-scenario trials and the unlimited purchase; and
- show and measure ads that support free scanning.
4. Your choices, retention, and deletion
Camera access can be changed at any time in your device settings. Photo access occurs only when you choose a photo through the system picker.
Hand-history entries remain on your device until you delete them from the History screen or remove the app. Other local information, including local leaderboard records and trial counters, can be removed by deleting the app. Public leaderboard records are maintained by Apple Game Center or Google Play Games under your platform profile and are subject to that provider's retention and account controls. We do not operate a separate leaderboard database and cannot retrieve, export, or delete those platform records for you.
Purchase records are maintained by Apple or Google under your store account. You can review purchases, request eligible refunds, and manage your account through the applicable store's services.
Where required, the About screen provides an Ad Privacy Choices entry point for reviewing or changing advertising consent. You can also manage or reset the device advertising identifier through iOS or Android privacy settings. Withdrawing consent can limit or stop personalized advertising; it does not affect manual scoring or a completed Premium purchase.
5. Service providers
Apple and Google provide device permissions, on-device system frameworks, app distribution, purchase processing, and the optional Game Center or Google Play Games public leaderboard. RevenueCat provides purchase receipt validation and entitlement management. Google Mobile Ads provides advertising for free users, and Google's User Messaging Platform provides regional advertising consent and privacy controls. Each provider handles information under its own privacy terms.
Cloudflare hosts this legal website. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare may process standard request information such as IP address, device and browser details, request time, and security signals to deliver and protect the site. We do not add advertising cookies or analytics scripts to this website.
6. Security
Local app records are stored within the app's device storage and benefit from protections provided by iOS or Android. Public leaderboard submissions are transmitted to the applicable platform provider. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
7. Children's privacy
Crib Calc does not require a separate Crib Calc account. Public leaderboards require a platform gaming profile. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe information has been provided to us outside the app by a child, contact us so we can address the request.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update its effective date.
